Is Strength Training Enough for Your Players?
Athletic Development 101: Baseball Flows™ Newsletter

Coaches and parents, let me ask you:
Do you think strength training alone is all it takes for an athlete to succeed on the field?
The answer is no.
Building strength is vital—especially as players mature and are ready to handle heavier training loads—but it cannot come at the cost of movement quality. Strength training and movement training must go hand in hand.
Here’s why:
Strength training builds the engine. It gives players the power, force production, and resilience they need. But Baseball Flows? That’s the steering wheel. It ensures that players can take all that strength and channel it into game-specific, efficient, and effective movements.
Why Movement Training Matters:
✅ Game-Specific Patterns: The way you move in the gym doesn’t always translate to the field. Gym patterns focus on isolated strength, but the game requires global movement patterns—fluid, whole-body actions that integrate strength, coordination, and adaptability.
✅ Injury Prevention: Baseball and softball players are often stuck in repetitive, one-sided movements. Without movement training, imbalances and poor mechanics build up, leading to injuries. Baseball Flows restores balance and stability, ensuring that strength gains don’t lead to breakdowns.
✅ Unlocking Athletic Potential: Movement training enhances the rhythm, timing, and agility that players need to make plays. Strength alone doesn’t make a great shortstop, pitcher, or outfielder—it’s how they move that sets them apart.
It’s Not Strength Training OR Baseball Flows
It’s about strength training in Baseball Flows. Together, they create athletes who are not only stronger but move better, compete harder, and stay healthier for the long haul.
Does your young athlete’s training program address the movements they need to dominate on the field? If not, it’s time to close the gap.
