Common Mistakes with Med Ball Training

A lot of players get stuck when it comes to med ball exercises, which are essential for developing explosive power. But just like a seed needs the right conditions to sprout, med ball training requires proper technique to be effective. Too many players try to “muscle through” without the athleticism, movement flow, or stability needed for these dynamic movements. But don’t worry—we’ve got you covered with some key tips and go-to Med Ball Baseball Flows.

Pro Tip: Think of your med ball like the weight of a branch. Too heavy, and your body overcompensates, using the wrong muscle groups (just like a tree that bends under too much weight). Too light, and you miss out on the quick stretch response necessary for explosive power—like a tree not catching enough sunlight to grow. The sweet spot is in finding balance: How fast you generate force is more important than how much force you create.
