Your Son Doesn’t Need Another Hitting Lesson
Athletic Development 101: Baseball Flows™ Newsletter

Let’s discuss something that might upset a few people.
Your son probably doesn’t need another hitting lesson.
At least not yet.
I know that’s controversial.
Because every weekend I see parents spending hundreds of dollars on private instruction trying to fix:
Rolling over
Casting
Dropping the hands
Flying open
Stepping out
Barrel path
And sometimes the lesson works…
For about 15 minutes.
Then game day arrives.
The pitcher throws harder.
The timing changes.
The pressure increases.
And the old movement patterns come right back.
Why?
Because most mechanical problems aren’t mechanical problems.
They’re movement problems.
The Real Issue
When a player struggles to stay balanced, rotate efficiently, adjust to velocity, or control their body under speed…
Coaches often prescribe another drill.
But drills are usually trying to solve the symptom.
Not the cause.
Imagine trying to improve a player’s swing while ignoring:
⚾ Coordination
⚾ Balance
⚾ Timing
⚾ Athletic transitions
⚾ Rotational control
⚾ Body awareness
That’s like trying to tune the radio while the engine is broken.
Watch the Best Players
Look at players like Mookie Betts, Bobby Witt Jr., Elly De La Cruz, Fernando Tatis Jr., or Gunnar Henderson.
Their greatness isn’t just their swing mechanics.
It’s their athleticism.
Their ability to move.
To adapt.
To solve movement problems in real time.
They don’t perform one perfect swing.
They perform thousands of different swings.
Different pitch locations.
Different pitch speeds.
Different counts.
Different situations.
Yet somehow the outcome stays the same.
Why?
Because they have robust movement systems.
Not memorized mechanics.
The Youth Baseball Development Problem
Many young players spend years collecting drills.
Very few spend years developing movement.
And that’s backwards.
The game isn’t asking your son to remember a cue.
The game is asking him to move.
Under pressure.
At speed.
Against chaos.
What We Do Differently
At Baseball Flows, we don’t start with mechanics.
We start with the athlete.
We train:
⚾ Athleticism
⚾ Movement quality
⚾ Coordination
⚾ Rotational sequencing
⚾ Balance
⚾ Athletic transitions
Because when movement improves…
Mechanics often clean themselves up.
The player becomes more adaptable.
More efficient.
More resilient.
And most importantly…
More athletic.
The Question
If your son is struggling at the plate…
Does he really need another swing thought?
Or does he need a better movement system?
Sometimes the fastest way to improve a baseball player isn’t to train baseball harder.
It’s to build a better athlete.
Athletic players don’t memorize the game.
They move through it.
If you want that for your player, you know where to go.
